Currently I offer "Intro to Metalsmithing," "Fold Forming," and "Soldering 1(new for 2025)" classes. All three are comprehensive 4-hour workshop that unveils the captivating world of metalsmithing and soldering. Here, you'll gain valuable insights into working with metals and learn essential skills. The skills and tools you gain will translate over to other metals such as sterling silver, brass, bronze, aluminum, etc.
By the end of the class, you'll proudly take home your own creations—several stunning pieces of jewelry you created!
NEW CLASS COMING 2025
Want to learn to solder two pieces of metal together? I just launched this class in March 2025.
Would you like to learn or enhance your skills in metalsmithing, focusing on soldering, cold connections, fold forming, and much more? Private lessons are available with a minimum commitment of 4 one-hour sessions, which can be scheduled separately or all at once based on my availability.
Discover the exciting world of metalsmithing in this comprehensive 4-hour workshop designed for beginners. You'll gain essential skills and insights into working with metals that translates to various metals, including copper, brass, bronze, aluminum, and sterling silver.*
In this class, you’ll explore fundamental metalsmithing techniques, essential tools, and the fascinating art of cold connections. Through hands-on practice, you'll develop a strong foundation that can be applied to future metalsmithing projects.
All materials are provided, including a copper practice sheet, additional copper sheet, copper and sterling wire, a rivet, necklace tips, tools, and safety equipment—ensuring a complete and rewarding learning experience.
Interested in working with sterling silver? A 3”x2” sterling silver sheet is available for purchase at checkout, allowing you to create stunning sterling silver or bi-metal jewelry.
I’ve developed a Fold Forming curriculum, offering a deep dive into this dynamic metalsmithing technique. This specialized course explores the unique characteristics of metal and how it can be manipulated to create striking textures and patterns through folding.
In this hands-on class, you’ll experiment with various techniques to shape and transform metal while gaining a solid understanding of annealing (softening metal with heat). You’ll also work with a torch and an expanded selection of hammers and tools not covered in the Intro to Metalsmithing course, ensuring a more immersive learning experience.
By the end of the course, you’ll have created stunning pieces of jewelry, showcasing your newfound skills in fold forming.
You will need previous metalsmithing background to enter this class. This class offers an exciting opportunity to expand your metalsmithing knowledge and skills!
I’ve designed an all-new Soldering 1 class for 2025, offering a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of soldering. This specialized 4-hour course is designed to help you master the essentials of soldering, from understanding different types of solder and torches used in metalsmithing to exploring various fluxes and soldering surfaces.
Through hands-on practice, you’ll learn how to make solder flow, use a soldering pick to position solder, join flat metal pieces, and refine your work by sanding and removing excess solder. This class provides a solid foundation in working with a torch, giving you valuable insights into how solder behaves and flows. By the end of the session, you'll complete both a pendant and a band ring—gaining confidence in your soldering skills.
No prior metalsmithing experience is needed, as all pieces are pre-cut and ready for assembly. Join us and start your soldering journey today!
Let's take a peek into this immersive 4-hour class. Students commence with raw materials in hand, including sheet metal, copper wire, cord, sterling wire, and rivets, allowing them to unleash their creativity and craft unique designs from scratch!
In this class, students learn the art of joining two metal pieces using a rivet. They discover the ingenious technique of using a wire to connect these pieces, crafting a dome-shaped connection at the metal's tip with the finesse of a hammer.
In this class, every student gains knowledge in the use of a jeweler's saw. I provide instruction on the crucial skill of changing a saw blade. When you arrive for the class, the saws are without blades, so it's essential to learn how to properly attach them. Plus, you'll acquire the knowledge needed to replace a broken blade should it occur during your creative journey.
In this class, we go beyond the standard methods of punching or cutting shapes. Here, you'll learn the art of precision by learning how to saw out your desired shapes.
