 About Me, Dawn Hatzidakis

 I'm Dawn Hatzidakis, a second-generation metalsmith, wife, and mother based in Crestwood, KY, just outside Louisville. My journey into metalsmithing began with my Mom, who first introduced me to the art of jewelry design. Though I spent years in the corporate world, my passion for creativity led me to a career shift in my early 40s, where I fully embraced the craft of jewelry making. 

Why Copper?

 I've always been drawn to unique colors and patterns—an appreciation rooted in my fine arts background. Copper, with its ability to shift hues, bend, and fold, instantly captivated me. I don’t work from rigid designs or sketches; instead, I let the metal guide the process. Each piece takes shape organically as I cut, hammer, solder, etch, and finish, resulting in one-of-a-kind jewelry that tells its own story 

The Art of Patina

 My true passion lies in mastering the art of patina. Just as the Statue of Liberty developed its signature turquoise hue over time, copper naturally oxidizes, revealing stunning variations in color. I harness this process, blending science and artistry to create jewelry with rich, evolving textures and hues—each piece a unique expression of nature’s magic.
